Gamay is delicious with or without food

A thin skinned red variety that produces soft and juicy wines that are light in body with medium acidity and strawberry, cherry, raspberry and floral character. Gamay wines are delicious with or without food, but thanks to low tannins, fair acidity and light weight can work with a wide variety of dishes including charcuterie, creamy cheeses, chicken and fish dishes. Unlike most reds Gamay can also be served cold.

Five to try:

  • Morrisons Beaujolais

  • Henry Fessy Fleurie

  • Domaine Pardon Julienas

  • Domaine Coudert Clos de la Roilette Fleurie

  • Alain Michaud Brouilly
