Gewürztraminer isn't a versatile food wine

A very aromatic white variety producing unctuous wines with a distinctive perfumed nose (lychee, floral, pineapple) and earthy, spicy palate. Gewürztraminer has very low levels of acidity and when it is fully ripe the lack of acidity can make it a little flabby and sweet on the palate. Due to low acidity and very pronounced fruit character this isn’t a very versatile food wine. However its spicy character and touch of residual sugar mean that it does combine well with certain spicy foods especially Indian curries. It can also work with washed rind cheeses like Munster.
